Augustana University, recently renamed this September, has long been present in the Midwest region. Founded in Sioux Falls in 1860, this private liberal arts college has the Lutheran faith at it's core. Students enjoy the beautiful city of Sioux Falls, which is the trendiest city in all of South Dakota (according to us...and we know what we're talking about). Students from 29 states and 38 countries come to Augustana to learn valuable skills that will set them on a path to success for the future.
Now, without further ado, lets see how Augustana rated on our college scale
Amount of Majors: 52
Aesthetics:
If you stay at Augie, you stay in style. Freshmen dorms are spacious, with two beds that can loft. 2 desks and a window (which are often under appreciated) are provided in each room. The dorms come with a rec room, wireless internet access, a kitchen for each floor, and more! Upperclassmen enjoy a few more perks. They have the choice to live in theme houses or upperclassmen dorms, which often have module furniture arrangements. The campus is beautifully landscaped, with sculptures and foliage making you feel like you're at an Ivy League school. Classrooms are sometimes older, so be sure to keep that in mind.
Affordability:
Augustana is a private college so it comes with a private college price tag. If you go to Augustana you can expect a bill of around $37,500 per year. However, they have TONS of scholarship opportunities to help knock that price down! For a full list of those scholarships go here --> http://www.augie.edu/admission/financing-your-education/scholarships
Acceptance Rates:
If you decide to apply to Augustana you have a 61% chance of being accepted. The average ACT score is 26.
Activities:
Augustana is a Greek Life free campus. However, they do provide 18 intramural sports that you can get involved with. Some of the more notable ones are karate, laser tag, and water basketball!
Food:
If you have special diet accommodations that need to be met then consider Augustana. The food choices are somewhat lacking, as they only have a couple of places to get food at on campus.
Overall Augustana is a good school to keep your sites on! They have a beautiful campus that they like to keep up to date and clean. You're sure to not get bored with the excellent dorms as well as tons of activities to get involved with!
Our rating: 3.7 / 5
